Jonas Lampens in Hanoï

"When the French built the railway that runs through Hanoi in 1898, they constructed homes five or six meters away from the track. Since then, Vietnamese people have put up shops, businesses and houses in between - sometimes only a meter or so from the rails.
Many who lives there once worked for the rail company, others are street vendors, but not everyone is poor - there's a large middleclass group too, as well as everything from hairdressers and bakeries to bicycle repair shops and furniture stores. Everyone knows the exact timing of the trains, and accidents are extremely rare."
