Inhoud en doel - Programme

Het postgraduaat Dutch & Translation van de faculteit Toegepaste Taalkunde biedt aan niet-Nederlandstalige studenten met een diploma van bachelor of master in de talen de mogelijkheid om zich gedurende één academiejaar (60 studiepunten) te verdiepen in de studie van de Nederlandse taal en tegelijk een grondige basiskennis te verwerven in de discipline van het vertalen.
De opleiding bestaat uit drie delen:

• Dutch Courses: 27 studiepunten
• Core Courses: 18 studiepunten
• Electives: 15 studiepunten

Met de Dutch Courses wordt een stevige verwerving van het Nederlands beoogd. In vier modules groeit de student door tot een taalniveau in de buurt van niveau B2 (Europees referentiekader). In een vijfde opleidingsonderdeel wordt gefocust op de maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen in de Lage Landen. De Core Courses omvatten zes opleidingsonderdelen. Daar ligt de klemtoon op de vertaalwetenschappelijke discipline. Vijf keuzevakken maken het programma compleet.

The International Postgraduate Programme Dutch & Translation (IPP Dutch & Translation) is a one-year academic programme (60 ECTS credits), offering foreign students the possibility to study Dutch as a foreign language in a  module offering  very intensive, advanced-level practice. No prior knowledge of Dutch is required. At the same time, the programme provides students with a solid introduction to translation studies and the use of translation tools. On successful completion of the programme, students will be awarded the International Postgraduate Certificate in Dutch & Translation.

The study programme consists of 3 main parts:

• Dutch courses, 27 ECTS credits (compulsory courses)

               Dutch as a foreign language 1: CEFR A1

               Dutch as a foreign language 1: CEFR A2

               Dutch as a foreign language 1: CEFR B1

               Dutch as a foreign language 1: CEFR B2

               Society and institutions of the Low Countries            

• Core courses, 18 ECTS credits (compulsory courses)

               Computer-aided translation

               Localisation

               Introduction to language technology

               Terminology and terminography

               Introduction to interpreting

               EU law, institutions and languages

• Electives, 15 ECTS credits (subject to sufficient enrolments)

Doelgroep en onderwijstaal - Target group and language of instruction

De opleiding richt zich tot niet-Nederlandstalige studenten in het bezit van een diploma bachelor of master in de talen (toegepaste taalkunde, taal en letteren, bedrijfsvertaler-tolk,…) die zich (verder) willen toeleggen op het Nederlands als vreemde taal en zich willen bekwamen in de vertaalkunde. De opleidingsonderdelen die behoren tot het gedeelte “Core Courses” worden gegeven in het Engels. De opleidingsonderdelen die behoren tot het gedeelte “Electives” worden gegeven in de taal of talen die het opleidingsonderdeel tot voorwerp heeft.

The IPP Dutch & Translation is designed for students holding a bachelor or master degree in languages who want to (1) study the Dutch language and (2) acquire basic translation skills. It is a unique programme in the Dutch-speaking area. The Dutch language modules are taught in Dutch whereas the core courses are taught in English. The language of instruction for the electives depends on the subject chosen.

Studieomvang en programmering

De opleiding start op 24 september 2012, duurt één jaar en omvat 60 studiepunten. De meeste opleidingsonderdelen worden georganiseerd in een klassiek semestersysteem. De vier modules Nederlands worden achtereenvolgens georganiseerd in vier verschillende kwartalen van zes weken (a rato van 8 uur per week).

The IPP Dutch & Translation 2012-2013 will start on 24 September 2012 and takes one academic year of 60 ECTS credits in total.

Toelatingsvoorwaarden - Admission requirements & deadline for application

Een diploma van bachelor of master in de talen (toegepaste taalkunde, taal en letteren, bedrijfsvertaler-tolk,…) is vereist.

Applicants should hold a bachelor or master degree in languages (applied language studies, philology, etc. …) and have a solid knowledge of English. Requests for an exception to the admission requirements will be examined on an individual basis. Accepted English language certificates and the required scores are mentioned in the application form.

The deadline for application is 31 May 2012. Because of the complexity involved in processing applications from certain regions, it is advisable tot submit your complete file before this date.

Inschrijvingsgeld - Tuiton fee

Het inschrijvingsgeld voor de volledige opleiding bedraagt € 1.103,30.
Het is ook mogelijk om enkel het pakket “Dutch Courses” te volgen. Het inschrijvingsgeld daarvoor bedraagt € 755,20.

The cost of tuition for the IPP Dutch & Translation is € 1.106,30. Students who only want to take the intensive Dutch courses will pay € 755,20.
