Exchange Students

I am an exchange student and I want to apply for an exchange programme

You can apply online. Your institution needs to have a bilateral agreement (e.g.: Erasmus+,…) with University College Ghent on your particular study programme in order to organise an exchange. Consult our agreements database to find out if your institution and study programme is listed.

In order to be accepted at University College Ghent as an exchange student, you will need to apply online. This online application needs to be submitted before the following deadlines:

  • 15 November for the 2nd (spring) semester of the current academic year
  • 31 May for the 1st (autumn) semester of the next academic year

*Please note that for the School of Arts the deadlines for registration are different.

If you have any questions, you can always contact the international relations officer at the faculties of University College Ghent.

Language Requirements

Exchange students are expected to have a good command of spoken and written English in order to be able to follow the lectures and complete the course assignments, oral presentations and exams. We advise the students to have a B2.

In addition, if a student chooses one of the language courses in our International Curriculum, we expect him/her to have the required entrance level. In the list of the courses, and also in the ECTS description of the courses, the entrance level is stated in the title of the course. For example: Français (CEFR-B1): the minimum level of French to be able to take this class is B1.

Students taking one of the language courses will be asked to provide us a certificate to prove this level. The certificate can be a statement by one of the home institution's language teachers.

More information on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
