Looking for an international learning experience that goes beyond the traditional exchange programme? Our programme Human Resources Management offers the opportunity to attend classes together with our regular third year students HRM in English-taught courses.

By joining our regular HRM classes, you'll get the chance to connect with local students, exchange ideas, collaborate in group projects and experience student life from an insider's perspective. At the same time, local students benefit from an international classroom, creating a multicultural learning environment.

So, if you're looking to broaden your knowledge of Human Resources Management, learn from an international perspective, and build friendships with students from different cultures, our exchange programme offers an inspiring and interactive learning experience. Specifically, we offer the following 30-credit programme consisting of: 

  • 18 ECTS of HR-specific courses
  • 12 ECTS of general courses

This programme offers the following courses for a total of 30 credits.

 

HR Specific courses (18 ECTS)

Package of HR specific courses (18 credits – semester 1) via a mobility window where incoming and home students attend classes together in an international classroom for the following third-year courses:

In this module, you will discover the challenges of urbanization and sustainability for the HR sector. You will reflect on your professional identity and boost your international and intercultural competencies. You will create a personal action plan and practice networking in a multilingual environment. This will broaden your worldview and strengthen the skills that will make you a truly future-proof HR professional.

No HR programme would be complete without visiting organisations that operate in a metropolitan context! We will take you on a tour of Ghent and Brussels. You will discover the challenges cities face when it comes to employment, but you will also learn how valuable talents, such as multilingualism, are put to use. The importance of diversity and the inclusion reflex are also central themes.

Ready for the future? The world of HR professionals is constantly changing. Trend watchers guide you through the challenges of today and tomorrow, providing insight into modern HR practices and how they influence the future of work.

You will explore the basic principles of work and its significance in society. You will learn about the theories of various thinkers and their impact on modern work cultures. In addition, you will reflect on ethical issues and how they influence HR practices. This will help you make informed decisions in your future career.

 Generic courses (12 ECTS)

1. The necessary practical communicative skills for real-life situations

  • Speaking skills/Interaction - At the end of the course you will be able to have short and simple conversations in everyday interaction.
  • Speaking/Production - At the end of the course you will be able to use a series of phrases to e.g. introduce yourself, your family and other people, to talk about your background and education, to describe your environment and living conditions.
  • Listening skills - By listening to simple texts you get acquainted with the Dutch standard language. At the end of the course you can understand phrases and frequently used vocabulary related to areas of immediate personal relevance such as personal and family information, shopping, local area, education.
  • Reading skills - At the end of the course you will be able to read simple, short texts on day-to-day items such as leaflets, course schedules, timetables, menus.
  • Writing skills - At the end of the course you will be able to write short messages e.g. an invitation, holiday greetings on a postcard, an email asking for information. You will also be able to fill in forms with personal information such as a hotel registration form.

2. Basic knowledge of phonology, vocabulary, grammar and spelling, all in function of the communicative skills for real-life situationss

3. A crash course introduction to Belgium such as Belgian daily life, politics and culture.

The main aim of the course is to provide the students with basic information about Belgium and Belgian society. Starting from their own (foreign) view on Belgium, the students will gradually get to know the complex Belgian situation in a European context (constitutional structures, languages, culture, history, politics, etc.) through examples and real-life situations..

o How to ensure good communication with employees? How to stay in touch with what is going on in the workplace? Active and empathetic listening

o Giving and receiving feedback:

  • advantages and disadvantages of giving feedback

  • Assertive communication: dealing with resistance, conducting difficult conversations
