This research cluster provides the link between knowledge development and sustainable change in practice and comprises two complementary areas of research: effectiveness and professionalisation.
The first area focuses on implementation and effectiveness. We investigate how insights, interventions and innovations emerging from OZL 1 and OZL 2 can be translated into everyday practice and sustainably embedded in schools and organisations.
The second area focuses on professionalisation as an independent field of research. We investigate how education and welfare professionals learn and develop sustainably, and which organisational conditions support this professional learning. Our focus is on collective, context-specific and organisational learning.
Our current projects
Strengthening metacognitive skills and effort regulation in (teachers of) 11- to 13-year-olds
This research designs a professional development programme for teachers that strengthens, automates and transfers their own metacognitive skills, and applies these skills to develop a teaching approach that trains pupils in the same competencies.
DeCiTeL - Democratic Citizenship Education: Teaching and Learning
This project unites European teacher education institutions to strengthen teachers’ capacity for democratic citizenship and social competencies, and to scale successful practices across urban learning ecosystems and teacher education networks.
ITOS-R
Adaptation of and research into the applicability of the Impact TOS Questionnaire for children and young people in a school context, among children with a low socio-economic status and/or multicultural background.
MultiClass - Multicultural Classrooms
As the number of international students in higher education rapidly increases, this project focuses on the skills and competencies academic staff need to work effectively in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
