Housing

Housing is more than a commodity, it is a fundamental social right. Through a socio-spatial lens, we examine how housing conditions affect liveability and social justice, integrating the experiential knowledge of residents into policy and design processes. We bring together diverse stakeholders and marginalized urban populations to address affordability and promote inclusive, high-quality living environments.

Our projects.

WISH

WiSH.

The WiSH research project examined the quality of housing and the living environment in Flemish social housing neighbourhoods, placing residents' experiences at the centre and developing a practical model to support design, construction, and management decisions.

BLOK

BLOK.

The BLOK project investigated how children and teenagers living in various forms of stacked housing experience their living environment, and developed practical recommendations for designers and social workers to create more supportive and opportunity-rich housing settings.

BLOK

GROUNDED.

The GROUNDED research project explored the opportunities and challenges of the Community Land Trust Ghent model as a means of achieving equitable and sustainable urban transition, drawing on participatory fieldwork and stakeholder perspectives to inform future policy and practice.
