Bachelor of Audiovisual Arts

The study programme aims to train people to become professional film makers and cartoonists who, as independent artists within their own discipline, have a command of, and can apply, the process, either wholly or in part. The bachelor's attainment targets are as follows:

- ability to acquire one’s own ideas and develop them by means of an original concept;
- mastery of the laws of audio-visual communication and the grammar of visual language;
– ability to use the main technical resources for audio-visual forms of expression;
- mastery of the required level of expertise regarding the equipment used;
- ability to develop a view on audio-visual art in relation to social and cultural developments;
- familiarity with the frames of reference for social sciences and art and with the current trends within the artistic and artistic-technical domains;
- familiarity with (social) scientific and philosophical research attitudes and methods;
- ability to steer and support the visual language based on theoretical insights and expertise;
- ability to look for impulses and to apply methods that can fire the inspiration;
- openness to work with other art disciplines, the ability to use different image carriers and media to meet one's own artistic goals;
- ability to rise up to the challenge of entering into a critical dialogue about one's own audio-visual work; having the ambition to excel;
- ability to rewrite a clearly worded text in correct Dutch;
- ability to manage a budget;
- ability to take part in a consultation with due consideration for planning and timing;
- ability to manage time and space appropriately.

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) of Audiovisual Arts has direct access (DA) to at least one Master program and can gain access to other related Master programs after the successful completion of a preparatory program (PP):
