The bachelor of music at the University College Ghent / School of Arts - Koninklijk Conservatorium offers four specialisations:
- Performing music
- Creating music
- Music theory
- Instrument building

The specialisation tracks Performing music and Creating music each offer two specialisations:

Performing music
- specialisation classical music
- specialisation jazz/pop

Creating music
- specialisation composition
- specialisation music production

The bachelor of music provides competence-based education that focuses on the development of accomplished and all-round music artists

- who are research-focused and can help develop the arts at the level of a fledgling musician;
- who practise current music for which knowledge of, and the tradition and contemporary concepts within, this artistic field are fundamental;
- who are aware of their place in society, of their position as an artist and of the context of their creations / performances;
- who can acquire a place in the fragmented and volatile world of music;
- who can permanently develop as musicians;

Moreover, bachelor of music graduates, specialisation Performing music, are capable of:
- interpreting music in a personal manner;
- making a case for their artistic choices;
- performing to a high standard of music as solo artists, in ensembles or in an orchestra;
- expressing their wish to perform as solo artists, in an orchestra or an ensemble;
- making a considerable contribution to the musical group process.

Moreover, bachelor of music graduates, specialisation Creating music, are capable of:
- expressing themselves musically with a previously scheduled or created piece of music and with the help of appropriate means;
- providing performing musicians with adequate information about their musical oeuvre to bring their compositions or music productions to life;
- making a considerable contribution to the musical group process during a musical production;
- managing a group of musicians and the supporting team during the music production process.





Moreover, bachelor of music graduates, specialisation Musical instrument construction, are capable of:
- developing an artistic concept based on their own personal artistic views with a view to building a high-quality musical instrument;
- expressing the wish to secure and accomplish instrument construction assignments;
- working as part of a team in an instrument construction workshop.

Moreover, bachelor of music graduates, specialisation Music theory, are capable of:
- giving evidence of sufficient practical experience and finding creative solutions to music-theoretical problems that are new to them and implementing them using the appropriate means and expressing them both orally and in writing;
- informing the different groups from the world of music and communicating with them skilfully about ideas, problems and solutions.

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) of Music has direct access (DA) to at least one Master program and can gain access to other related Master programs after the successful completion of a preparatory program (PP):
